As a field hockey player, Dr. Nikki had experienced her fair share of injuries. She went to the chiropractor and was surprised when he asked her more about her overall health rather than just the area of pain in her back. After care, she didn’t just experience relief – she was able to stop taking her medications for migraines and allergies.

The first step in Dr. Nikki’s chiropractic education was to attend Pennsylvania State University at University Park. There, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Afterward, it was on to Life University in Marietta, Georgia. As a student, she traveled to the Sichuan province of China to share chiropractic. “It gave me a global view of how many people need chiropractic. There were millions of people who were looking for an alternative to the medical model to live healthier lives.”

Developing an Emphasis on Moms and Kids

During her time in China, Dr. Nikki’s love of pediatric care blossomed. The people she adjusted there included babies who were just days old. Since then, she has gone on to achieve additional qualifications, including

 - Pediatric adjusting certificate from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA)

 - Webster Technique certification from the ICPA

 - Certified childbirth educator through the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA)

 - Certified BirthFit Professional

 - Certified in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)

Over the years, Dr. Nikki has been continually amazed at all that people are capable of under chiropractic care. “The longer I’m in practice, the more miracles I see. Even the subtle changes chiropractic can make in people transforms my perspective on health and healing.”

Dr. Nikki Cottis knew early in life that she wanted a profession where she could serve other people. Chiropractic was the perfect fit, and she attended Life University to attain her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. When it was time to open up her own practice, one thing was certain: she had to live by the beach. In joining the Gulf Shores community, she gets to enjoy our fabulous weather and enjoy the friendly people in our area.

Why We Love Seeing Expecting Moms and Babies

At Chiropractic Connection, all ages are welcome. We love to see every member of your family, from newborns to great-grandparents. Dr. Nikki has a particular emphasis on caring for pregnant women, babies and children. Below, you can read more about each of these groups and what we can do for them.

As a mom herself, Dr. Nikki gets it: pregnancy isn’t always a picnic. There are aches, pains and worries about your upcoming labor and birth. You need gentle care that can optimize the function of your body. Additionally, you’ll get information and resources from us.

Dr. Nikki is a certified childbirth educator through the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) and a certified BirthFit Professional, so she will supply you with all the tools you need to be empowered during your pregnancy. She is also certified in the Webster Technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).

Dr. Nikki has seen firsthand the effect of chiropractic on kids, both for her daughter Hazel and for many of her pediatric patients. She holds a certification in pediatric adjusting through the ICPA. You can bring your baby in to see us as soon as you’re ready to leave the house after welcoming your new bundle of joy. We’d love to hold them while you get adjusted, too!

When she isn’t in the office, Dr. Nikki is likely with her husband, Jonathan, and their beautiful young daughter, Hazel Jane. In her spare time, Dr. Nikki loves watching Penn State Football and Philadelphia sports. She enjoys going out to eat at local restaurants and taking family trips.
